I wanted to share a before and some afters of an estate pipe I recently picked up. It is a Digby 501 made in London England. I understand, after some help from here and a little bit of research, that the Digby is a GBD second. When I got the pipe it was very dirty and the stem was almost brown. I gave it the cotton ball and alcohol treatment followed by swabbing of the shank and an oxyclean soak for the stem. The pipe looked black but when I cleaned it and buffed it some color started to show through like I had hoped it would. I think I may dedicate this pipe to a certain genre but I'm not sure what yet. Enjoy the pics.

The sleekness of it is what appeals to me also. I don't know if it would be my thing if the stem didn't have the slight bend.

Nice job, it looks like you were able to save the "D" stem mark as well. Digby is indeed a GBD second. I have a Digby in the 9242 shape and it smokes just as well as my other GBD's. Enjoy that one!
