Has anyone heard of or actually seen the Buring Pipe Collection? Buring's was a tobacconist shop in Adelaide, South Australia. The family accumulated a large collection of pipes over a period of perhaps three generations, most of which were historical in nature. I recently purchased a few lots at auction which was held in the neighboring city of Norwood. One of them was in a numbered display case, which led me to believe that it might have come from a small museum. I'm guessing that this auction was a portion of that collection. I see some information online stating that a portion of the collection is or was on loan to the Hahndorf Academy, which is a regional museum focused on German migration and an art gallery. I'm hoping someone can help me verify my hunch.
