Its wood. Some bark on it even. Some indistinguishable writing on the bottom, so faded it cant be read. The lid i have isn't original
Sure I dunno. What makes you think it was for tobacco originally? Wood makes a crap container if you're trying to keep the tobacco from drying out.

Yep, though I'd rather try it on a pipe I'd enjoy smoking after all the work. Maybe what started out as a high end pipe that was abused, and then rescued from the shelter.
