In 1994 Peterson director Tom Palmer was on a visit in Copenhagen.When my tobacconist told him that I had more
Petersons that he had in the shop and I should visit Dublin later that year I was invited to see the factory.
My wife and I was shown around by legend Paddy Larrigan.I asked about bowl turning and he told me that they had the
bowls turned in Spain where the briar was just outside the door,cost of freight was lower and not so much dust
in the factory.
My wife did understand it.Bowlturning was not cared for,it was the shapeing of the rough bowls that count.
I once mentioned for Mike Billington at Blakemar that Peterson had the bowls turned in Spain and he said:
So have I.
