I only have 2 bents and a couple that are 1/8 bents.
My favorite shapes are Canadians, billiards and Lovats in that order.

It's just a matter of what shapes are most appealing to me.
Other than the possible tendancy of some bents to gurgle and their being easier to clench because of their balance, I don't think there should be any difference in potential smoking quality between them and straight shapes.

I tend to buy new pipes based on the aestethics, bent or not. But I have recently begun tilting towards the bents, more comfortable in my mouth and IMO more of a nostalgic feeling.

I started out only with bents and couldn't enjoy the look of the straight.
Now i find that full bents are much more difficult to run a cleaner through during smoking as I won't take it apart while it is hot.
So now I'm leaning towards straights and slight bents only.
Tastes change

Like so many have said, it depends on the mood I'm in and what I'm going to be doing. However I have a lot more straights than bents.

Bent imo takes a lot more effort to clean, especially a full bent.

I am leaning towards straight atm.
