After stumbling upon this old thread, I thought I'd give this simple project a whirl. The Altoids tin holds several bowls' worth of ribbon cut tobacco like the 1Q in my picture, probably the better part of an ounce. Obviously there isn't a perfect seal, but it seems like it ought to perform satisfactorily over the course of weekend. Variables such as tobacco choice, initial moisture, and ambient humidity would all have an impact on this time, of course.

I have used something like that for years. When I open a tin, it goes into a mason jar. For my pipe club meetings, I put whatever I want to smoke into a small tin. When I get home, I put whatever is left in the tin, back into the jar.
