I like to watch insects while I smoke. I wanted to be an entomologist when I was younger... still kinda do.

If hell had trees I think that tree would be a contender.
It looks like it's in a constant state of fiery pain.

In the pond, there are large-mouth bass, and bluegill.

+1 lonestar, it is a manzanita. Very common here in Nevada County CA

Well you know Manzanita is a close relative of Briar. They both grow large burls underground, and manzanita was used for pipes during WWI and WWII when briar was hard to come by.

Just something to think about while you smoke your pipe :puffy:

Yea, that is a wicked lookin tree for sure. +1 on the Bluegill. That is some good eating and certainly a blast to catch on a lightweight fly rod.
