    C&D Chenet's Cake

Pick up a tin at my local B&M and its only my second crumble cake. The first was C&D Blockade Runner. I should have dried it out a little more but took a chuck, crumbled it up and loading a thin wall Chacom Dublin for the drive home. Took a little to get it to stay lit (little to moist) but once...

    Pipe Tobacco VS. Hot Sauce??

Recently while trying to train my palette to enjoy the same spicy foods my wife enjoys I've found that I really enjoy putting Frank's Red Hot on just about everything (no pun intended) but I've found that it really make me susceptible to tongue bite with my beloved Virginias. Anyone else find a...

    Christmas Tobacco?

Do you have a favorite Christmas tobacco? I always find myself reaching for the Ennerdale this time of year. Watching those old english Christmas movies I always feel a strong english blend is suited for it. What is your go-to Christmas smoke?

    New Plug Pipe?

I picked up this old Savinelli "Kings Cross" estate yesterday from my B+M. It's a small group 1 I'm guessing and tipping the scales at 25gm. Perfect I think for smoking plugs and ropes.

    New Pipe For Christmas???

Anyone else get a new pipe for Christmas? I got a great full bent Kriswell Danish Clipper with some great grain to it. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. Merry Christmas to all and the best to all in the new year.

I'm Probably Going To Be Beaten Up For This.....

I was at the local B+M today and there was a guy there buying a pouch of Drum and I asked if he rolled his own. He replied that he smoked it in a smaller pipe and that there was no difference between Drum or Bali-shag and a finer shag cut Virginia pipe tobacco. Has anyone tried this or can...

    A Man Cave Is Born

The wife and I bought a new house this week and I am incredibly excited that my new garage has a 8x24' heated and enclosed shop in the front area. I have already began fabricating in my head the best layout of the new man cave and what sort of things it will need. Beer fridge, comfy chairs, big...

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

A hearty and happy Thanksgiving weekend to my fellow Canadians and a Happy Thanksgiving to our fellow pipers to the south, and around the world for that matter, as well..... even though the Yanks celebtrate it on the wrong day. Cheer and God bless.

    Couple of Old Girls Redone

Two old meers that got new stems and going into the rotation. Claw Egg and a small cutty

    Dodging Snipers

Got my fingers crossed on a couple of flea bay bids. I'm the current bid leader on two different meers and hoping I don't get sniped on at least one of them.

    B+M Score

Hit up a B+M while I was in Calgary this week and in a back corner of the cigar room found a couple of tins of McClelland Christmas Cheer 2012. Needless to say I bought both tins, also grabbed a tin of Three Nuns as well.

Black Irish Twist Vs. Brown Bogie

I've tried brown bogie before and while it had a nice kick to it, it also had a deep thick taste to it that I really enjoyed. Today I tried black Irish twist and was expecting something similar but couldn't find it. The black had almost a burning smell as apposed to a "roasting " smell I...

    Growing Meer Collection

Lately it seems that I have moved my smoking exclusively to meerschaums. The collection just keeps growing. The Pete will be getting a new stem this week.

    Enjoying Latakia?

I'll be honest and say that I have a really hard time finding enjoyment in blends containing Latakia. It seems that when I try it all I can taste is smoke. Not tobacco smoke but the taste of campfire smoke and nothing else. No Virginias, no Perique, no other taste but campfire smoke. The blends...

    Meerschaum Coloring "Button"?

I was reading an article about how years ago smokers put small coins or silver buttons in the bottom of the pipe to aid in coloring and when I got my new poker I decided to give it a try. I had a lone philtpad stone that I used for ten or fifteen bowls but then it crumbled away on me and my B+M...

    The Next Logical Step

So about a year and a half ago I left the world of aromatics and began smoking Virginias and VaPers. Friday I began the next evolution in my pipe smoking by ordering some plugs and rope. I should have an order of Jackknife, Triple Play, Wessex Gold plug, 3Ps, and some Irish Black Twist arriving...

    Getting Into Ropes

I'm very curious about getting into smoking rope tobaccos. I'd like some suggestions on which of the GH ropes I should be trying first? I am a Virginia or VaPer smoker predominately and not afraid of a little nic hit.

    A Meer Poker Nosewarmer

Just got this from the local B+M today. It originally had the standard ugly yellow longer stem but this one got a new short stem more to my liking. Hangs perfect in the mouth and the weight is spot on. It has a really deep bowl and about a 3/4" diameter so will be great for flakes I think. Tried...

    Peterson Price Increase

Was at my local B+M and he told me that if I want to get a Pete to do it soon. I guess they are going up in price by almost 50% on some lines and more then that on others. I asked if the increase was caused by the low dollar and he replied that the mark up is by Peterson themselves. I walked out...

    Lunting and Hunting

On the weekend I scored myself a 1935 Winchester Model 68, which is a sweet little single shot 22 rifle with some decent aperture sights. I spent most of Saturday cleaning it up as it obviously hadn't been shot in years, took me hours to get all the crap and gunk out of it. Sunday was an...
