    Trevor Barton collection

While browsing Christie's for pipe art I came across this sale from six years ago. I thought some of you would get a kick out of some of these unusual pipes. Trevor Barton collection

    New Orleans show pipe

I've been smoking my show pipe (huge Devorin morta billiard) for several weeks now and I am still amazed at the way it smokes. I don't think I've needed a relight at all in at least 10 pipefuls. I'm wondering whether this is a function of its size, the morta, or the engineering. In my...

    If the world is ending...

I found this picture as I was surfing around today. It was taken during the Cuban Missle Crisis. I guess the guy to the right, a few rows back figured, "If I'm going to get blown to bits I might has well get in a good smoke." I guess the shades on the two other gentlemen are for the flash.

    Because of the day

I'm smoking my Peterson Irish Sea straight billiard and roaming around Ireland on Google Earth, including James Fox's in Dublin.

    quelque chose d'amusant

I was looking through past sales at a French auction house for another thread to which I,occasionally , post and found these. I don't think they're art but they are amusing.

    Happy Mardi Gras

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Mardi Gras. It's cold as a polar bear's *** this morning so I'm going to start with some Rimboche SJ to warm my hands before I start in on the Mississippi River and ending the evening with some French Quarter, which I don't think I've had since last Mardi Gras.

How the shapes got their states

I was just mind wandering with a bowlful and began wondering about pipe shapes and their names. I've never seen a Zulu smoking a Zulu or, for that matter, anyone at Woodstock either. The only pipes I've seen from those colonials in Rhodesia are standard billiard shapes, never seen one smoke a...

    Magnum Opus?

Please tell me Magnum Opus is not gone for good. I went to Pipes and Cigars to order some and there is no sign of the stuff anywhere.

    Drug interaction and nicotine

Does anyone know of any interactions between nicotine and Lyrica and/or Cymbalta? I'm on both and I've had dizziness and nic hit symptoms that I didn't have before I was prescribed. It doesn't happen if I don't smoke and it doesn't happen if I smoke but don't dose.

Massachusetts really where our freedom fight started?

I saw a feature about the town of Westminster outlawing all tobacco sales in the town as a health measure. All those interviewed talked only of cigarettes, but the mayor had the best quote of all. She said she was saving lives because "we know half of those people who choose to smoke cigarettes...

    New (to me) pipe smoker

In this video of the Mahavishnu Orchestra we see Billy Cobham with a pipe dangling during tune up. I didn't know Cobham was a piper. Mahavishnu live

    Another piper down

Yes, Howard Baker was a politician and I don't want to start crap. Frankly, other than the fact he was somehow involved in the Watergate hearings, I don't remember that much about him. But I do remember when you could smoke your pipe anywhere, including our own national capital. Here's Howard...

    ? about FM Cellar

It seems to me I get a good many more smokes out a 50g tin of FM on the Bayou than FM Cellar. That barrel block takes up valuable tobacco space. I know it would be expensive to have a whole different tin for one blend than all the other ones they produce. Shouldn't it be priced lower because of...

OK, now that's just going too far

LSU bans smoking One of the largest campuses (acreage)in the country and professors and students can't enjoy a stimulating pipeful. There are many places on that campus where you could be blocks from another human being. I know because it's where I first smoked a pipe for a few years before...

    Nilsson cover

Is this a pipe that Harry's holding? As long as I've owned this LP and I never noticed. Maybe that just shows who had the better tobacco.

    Wish me luck

Last August I tried Haddo's for the first time. Oh Lord how I loved the taste, the aroma, the burn,..everything. That is for awhile. It's a good thing I was only two steps from my bed because that is where I spent the next two hours, unable to move my head. By far, the worst nic hit I've ever...

    Question about Aromatics

While I was re-reading Russ' interview the issue was raised about getting the aroma from the aros into the actual taste while smoking. I prefer the way things are. My pipe tastes like tobacco on the tongue and I retrohale or use a full bent so I can capture the aroma also. Which led me to...
