    Best with Coffee...

I always have coffee with my pipe. The tobacco just doesn't tasted as good without coffee. puffy

    What kind of tobacco?

My suggestions would be - Savinelli Doblone d'Oro Macbaren HH Old Dark Fired or HH Bold Kentucky Peterson Irish Flake Pirate Kake puffy

    Rim Charring

For cleaning. A slightly moistened magic eraser removes the char without removing the stain.

    Predicting The Future

If you sit on it for long enough it will turn into one giant 400lb crumble cake. Then the tobacco can crumble around you.

***What are You Smoking, April 2022?***

Just smoked a bowl of Murray's Dunhill Durbar in a Rustic Peterson System 303 Wow those old Dunhill blends had way more nicotine and the tobacco was deeper and richer and I'm sure it tasted like Syrian Latakia. Nirvana !!!

One Tobacco To Rule Them All

I would be happy with this one blend, the finest I've ever smoked - Thee Nuns - Made in England Pre 1990's I hunted for 10 years and managed to secure six tins. I'm at the end of one of the tins. Even the dried crumbs at the bottom of the tin are delicious (Sweet, Spicy and Rich) Even...

Help Needed: Dating Three Nuns Tin

Probably from the 80’s Made in the UK. Its the good stuff with perique and that unique three nuns aroma and flavour. I have smoked a tin of this and the earlier orange bordered solid brown tin. So delicious and rare that you would have to pass the lit pipe around for everyone to savour a puff at...

First Pipe Smoke in 40 Years

Try starting with something less bitey, Like Early Morning pipe, My Mixture 965, Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic, Lanes 1Q or RLP-6 and as suggested sipping cools the smoke and brings out the flavor. Its not a competition to see who makes the most smoke.puffy -TimPiper

    Aromatic Discussion

Try Macbarens Original Choice. Very good flavour and aroma. Try packing the bowls of rlp-6 very lightly, this helps with blends smoked moist. I agree, some blends have more flavour smoked moist. Some have more flavour smoked drier. -TimPiper

    Pipe Smell

Yes tonquin/tonka & coumarin were banned at some point. Like you said most OTC blends included it to some degree, even capstan and blends like gold block and half & half etc These blends have been reformulated and are now missing that old time pipey aroma to some degree.

    Pipe Smell

Ive encountered a delicious mysterious aroma in old pipes before. I have come to the conclusion its the deer tongue, coumarin or tonka bean that was used in a lot of the old blends. It has a unique complex sweet vanilla cinnamon coconut fruity aroma. Coumarin is the active ingredient in deer...

Any Recommendations for a Struggling Ciggy Smoker?

Macbaren HH Old Dark Fired ready rubbed has a good nic hit and a full bodied sweet smokey bbq taste to me. I think Cig and Cigar snokers would like it.

    Humorous Reviews...

Fribourg & Treyer - Special Brown Flake by aztobaccosavant Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Matey. This here Old Tobey harkened back to the pirate days of yore. Fantastic, let me dare say amazing pressed Virginia flake. Ever so delightfully topped with what 37.66 years of experience tells me is an effluvial...

    VaPer Recommendations

Try Rattrays Marlin Flake? If you like Salty Dogs I think you would also enjoy Marlin flake. Both blends are sweet and dark with a small amount of perique. Also Rattrays Hal o The Wynd is worth a try.

    5lb Baby

Very nice :) That would cost you $3000 tax plus the cost of tobacco in the land of OZ

    Double Fisting

I also only smoke once a week. Have 3 or 4 pipes going maybe 1/3 full. Could be an OTC, an aro, a vaper and a latakia/oriental. I switch between the pipes and often settle on the one thats hitting the spot more than the others. Its a 1 to 2 hour smoking session in the shed. It developed like...

Where Do I Go from Here?

Lanes RLP-6 is like captain black, but better in my opinion. For something different with a sweet smokey taste try - Macbaren HH Old Dark Fired Peterson/Dunhill Early Morning Pipe TimPiper puffy
