    Ebay Sellers - Info

I agree with most of the above, deception is the wrong doing. Like many others, I've bought pipes for cheap from ebay, tarted them up a bit and sold them again. But I try to be as honest as I can with what I've done, and I do it for the enjoyment rather than the dosh, never make more than a few...

How to make my pipes shine?

I agree, carnuba wax works great when refurbishing bowls or stems. I also do it only for periodic cleans rather than every smoke.

How to keep your mouthpiece black and shiny?

Initially I bought a small tube of pipe stem polish (think it was Dunhill), but when I learned more and got more into the hobby, i found carnuba wax to do the best job - although this is after many smokes. I don't tend to polish after each smoke.

Samuel Gawith: Brown Sugar Flake, Brief Review

Thanks for the review - I've been considering this one after seeing it in the Danish Pipe Shop and hearing good things - it'll definitely go on the (never ending) try list!

    Tobacco on eBay

Agree with those above, items can be sold for "collectible packaging". I have bought several tins, some opened, some sealed. I doubt you'll have a case if the tobacco is bad, but if it is sold as "sealed" and the seal's been broken by the time you receive it, then you'll have a case with ebay...

Travelling to Europe... buy tobacco there or bring with?

I would agree with the above - take something with you but also see what the local tobacconists have to offer. I'm not sure what the selection is like in Spain, but as mentioned above, will likely be plenty of Samuel Gawith and Petersons.

What was grandpa/professor smoking 30 years ago...

I only graduated university 2 years ago so none of my professors would be allowed to smoke inside any university building let alone when they're teaching - come to think of it, I don't think any of my professors smoked at all. My maternal grandfather did, can remember him walking outside in the...

    Ashton's Consummate Gentleman Review

I did a trade with a friend from a pipe club in which I received a tin of this, really nice English blend I agree - very similar to Squadron Leader I reckon!

Pipe shops in Vienna - Austria

Was just having a look to see where they're available locally to me and saw the same thing - interesting! Although Tobaccoreviews.com states that Malcolm Flake is replica of University Flake, while Wallace Flake is replica of Erinmore Flake. (Sterling Flake replica of Irish Flake). If it's an...

Pipe shops in Vienna - Austria

I only recently got back from a 3 week trip around Europe and Vienna was one my our favourite spots - did some research as well and went to Ostermans, got a lovely sandblasted Rattray's billiard - lady in the shop knew her pipes! Also went next door and bought a tin of Rattray's Wallace Flake...

    Dream TAD - 50 Plugs Of Warrior - 1920 Murray's Billhead

Despite my Grandfather and Great Grandfather serving in war, they don't know how lucky they were with regards to their tobacco!

CANCELLED: U.K. Pipe & Tobacco Show

I also attended last years show for the first time, great time it was too. I hope i'm wrong in saying that the official show will be done with now, unless a loophole can be found. Such a shame, sometimes I wish I was born many years earlier!

    New Condor Lover

I'm a Brit and so wanted to love Condor and St.Bruno but I just can't seem to enjoy them as much :-( I really like Erinmore and Gold Block though, so I'm still happy with some of the OTC blends.

Estate Pipe Sites other than Ebay?

I'd like similar things to be honest! I know of a number of great sites that do great restoration work as well, the only one that springs to mind is [url=http://www.bisgaard-pipes.com/] - they sell loads of estates that look refurbished, but I've certainly had one from them that needed some...

    Starting Collection of Pipes

Looks like a nice collection already! My taste in pipes has changed so much over the now 6 years since I started smoking a pipe. Some folk just go on the looks, some favour a particular brand. I personally see a pipe I look the like of, have a look at the brand if I've never heard of it (ie...

Samuel Gawith / Gawith Hoggarth Merger Confirmed: Exclusive Interview

I think it's great and I don't think the blends will be anything short of what both currently produce, fantastic tobacco!

    Tobaccos For Smaller Size Pipes

Pretty much anything ready-rubbed for me; although, for stronger blends I will limit the bowl size. Nightcap is a good example, as I only smoke it after a large dinner (not great with vitamin N heavy blends on an empty stomach) which works well in the evening for a short walk.

    Gawith Re-United

A retailer here in the UK contacted SG who then confirmed it, whether it will happen or it's just a plan, who knows.

    Gawith Re-United

Do you think so? I quite like the idea of it - although I could see some blends in future suffering which would be a shame.

    Gawith Re-United

Through various enthusiasts and retailers, it appears that the Sam Gawith and Gawith & Hoggarth are going to be co-owned. I've heard that nothing is likely to change, both brands will still be operating with the same staff and machinery, but under one roof. It is not due to happen for several...
