Nawlins

Any of you oldtimers that spent tome in or around Nawlins, remember Holms Kitchen in the French Quarter , where you could get a plate of red beans & rice, some Andoule sausage, french bread, and a Barques root beer for 45cents.? Of course for me this was about 1967. So after this feast Id walk...

    5 minute water pipe

OK......here goes..with a caveat. Dont chastise for no pics, as I don't own a camera. I took a large mastercraft pipe, popped the stem off inserted 16 inches of aquarium tubing in the shank, slipped on an old cobb mouthpiece into the tubing, put the bowl into a pipe rest and lit up a bowl of 7...

    Fragrant Mature Cake

Does anyone know of a baccy that comes close to fragrant mature cake (McClellan?), that doesn't cost almost 50$ a lb?? Luv the blend, hate the price. Thanx L.Dog. :puffy:

    Shank Hole Expansion??

Could anyone with some experience with drilling the shank hole diameter for enlargement comment on the pros and cons of this. I have tried this on one pipe and it seems to produce a better easier draw allowing for effortless "sipping" and a more enjoyable smoke. Thanx for any ideas.

    Prop. Glycol/nasty?

Are there any opinions from y'all on Propylene Glycol being added to baccy as an additive to extend shelf life??? A fellow piper told me some of his fave blends had been ruined by this. I stay away from it completely. It creates a greasy feeling and I believe taints the taste of all tobacco...

    Spice of life

Wondering if anyone out there has experimented with adding a touch of spice ( fennel, cinnamon. cardamon, etc.) to a bowl of baccy?? I'm smokin a bowl of english now with a pinch (not much) of cinnamon . Not bad. Nutmeg is next. One could cellar a blend with the spice in a mason jar for a...

    Magic Inch (pros/cons)

Perhaps this has been discussed in another thread, but I would like to know how many briar heads have an opinion on the Carey magic system. I have one and another coming. My verdict on this type of pipe is still out. They have been around for a long time, so they must have some appeal. any...

    Bulls Eye Shellac and Pipes

while awaiting a new tobacco (Sunza Bitches) to possibly pop into my mailbox, I got the idea to experiment with some Bulls Eye shellac on some dull old fishin pipes. These are the pipes that say Italy or imported briar or nothing on them. So....I popped the Bulls Eye can and brushed 4 pipes...

    Tobacco Stir?

do any of you fellow pipers stir your tobacco? What I mean by this is after you get a bowl of your fave baccy fully engaged and smoked down a bit, I find that a gentle stir of the blend can elicit some different and quite unusual tastes. Don't have an explanation, but it seems to work.

    Sunza Bitches

does anyone have any experience with this mega perique baccy? I've read some reviews that are favorable ( if ya dig perique), and most said there is no bite. I'll know more by the weekend cause I ordered some from P&C. Most reviews caution to sit down before lighting up and hold on to the chair.

    Briar and Humidity

Can anyone tell me what humidity briars prefer? Down here in Az. we have long periods of low humidity (15 to 20% ). Wondering if it could affect my briars. If it does, I guess I'll just have to go lookin for a perfect pipe armoir to get some humidity for my pals. Its a dry heat. Thanx for any...

    Nostalgic Smoke

Pipes are amazing. Sculptures all, an infinite number all a variation for the same purpose. And I dug out a Peterson Irish Whiskey recently that hadnt been smoked in years. The result... As soon as I got the old boy a smokin, I realized a familiar taste of some long forgotten blend in the...

    Andrew Marks pipe???

I recently purchased a used pipe that looks alot like an Andrew Marks pipe and indeed is marked Marks/ Special, but the mark is not the same as the signature I have seen on Andrews pipes. Anyway, its a great smoker and a good looker. I'll just pretend its a Marks.

    My Own Custom Baccy Blend

P.Stok Proper English combined with VAPER John Patton and some Turkish Izmir has yielded a keeper blend for me. The dry Izmir makes for an excellent burn and the VAPERIQUE melts into the English. Also will try same blending substituting Balkan Supreme for the P. Stokkebye english. Im...
