    The Black Bloods !

My 4 oz. of bulk is on the way so I hope to become a Black Blood, too. P&C did me a tremendous favor. I had had a 2 oz. tin ordered for a month that was still on back order. I called them this morning and asked if I could get 4 oz. of the bulk and pay them the difference in price. They said they...

    Limited Edition C&D Christmas Blend

I'm also a fan of aro/ Englishes but it seems like most vendors are out of stock. Smokey

    New order in

I haven't smoked St. James Flake but that is a nice order! I've smoked Pirate Kake, Star of the East (I'm smoking some of the flake version now), PS Balkan Supreme, and Maltese Falcon and liked them all. You have much good smoking ahead of you. Smokey

    Go figure...

I was fortunate enough to marry a woman 29 1/2 years ago who doesn't mind the smell of most Latakia blends. What does bother her is some over-perfumed aromatics. I smoked a bowl of a blackberry tobacco (it might have been a Lane or Altadis blend) years ago and it immediately gave her a headache...

    Aww snap.. TAD kicks in...

Frog Morton's Cellar is a GREAT tobacco! IMO, it's the best of the Frog line although I like FMOTT, too. I'm going to have to get me some good bourbon to drink with a bowl. I'm normally a beer drinker with an occasional shot of Jack Daniels or Crown Royal. Any ideas out there on a good bourbon...

What are You Smoking? December, 2012

Early this morning it was Pipeworks and Wilke's Vermont Maple Cavendish, first in Dr. Grabow, then in a Savinelli Duca Carlo author. Now I've got C&D Star of the East flake in a Jan Zeman. Smokey

    Jar it or leave it?

I would definitely jar it and let it age 6-12 months if it's too strong for you now. Blends will often mellow with aging. I've found with most straight VAs I like them a lot better after that much aging. Smokey

Whats a festive aromatic for the holidays?

I also vote for Boswell's Christmas Cookie. C&D has a new Christmas blend called Chestnuts Roasting but it's a limited edition and I hear it's selling out fast. It's not billed as a Christmas aromatic but Pipeworks and Wilke have Vermont Maple Cavendish, made with real Vermont Maple Syrup. It...

    Hearth and Home

I've smoked Egg Nog and still have some here. It's OK but I prefer aromatics from Boswell's or Pipeworks and Wilke. Don't get me wrong, I love H&H tobaccos, especially Larry's Blend, it's just that Egg Nog didn't trip all my triggers. Russ O. is a wonderful blender and I am waiting for a tin of...

    Balsa Filters

I have a Savinelli Bing's Favorite and use the balsa filters because I tend to be a wet smoker. If you buy a new Bing's Favorite, it will come with an adaptor to replace the filter. If it doesn't have one, you can buy them cheaply at Pipes and Cigars or Smoking Pipes.

    Latikia Suggestions

There are lots of good Latakia blends out there and I keep several here. Among my favorites are Frog Morton's Cellar, Frog Morton on the Town, Boswell's Northwoods and Magnum Blend, H&H Larry's Blend, and C&D Plantation Evening. I'm waiting on some of Russ Oullette's Black House and hope it gets...

What are You Smoking? December, 2012

An old friend that I haven't smoked for a while; Boswell's Premium Burley. I'm smoking it in my Peterson 999 devoted to Burley blends. Smokey

    Why Did You Start?

My brother-in-law and a long time friend of our family both smoked pipes and just always looked like they were really enjoying it. Also, I didn't want to become a cigarette smoker like the rest of my friends in the late '60s. I started with Carter Hall and a Dr. Grabow and smoked OTCs...

My best PAD - by far - WARNING Large Pics

I've been a Boswell customer for years and everything you hear is true. Superb pipes, superb tobaccos, and, most of all, superb service. I'm smoking some Northwoods in my Boswell bent right now and it's a fantastic smoke! Smokey

    E. Hoffman's Spillman Mixture

I've smoked it. It's ok but not enough for me to keep any around. I much prefer Boswell's Northwoods, FMOTT, and Frog Morton's Cellar. Pipes and Cigars also have some superior blends, like Larry's Blend (full Latakia blend) and Distinguished Penguin (Scottish Latakia mixture). Smokey

    From aromatics to...?

How about trying a sampler from Pipes and Cigars H&H line? You could call them and talk to Russ O. or one of their other employees about your preferences. Another really good sampler deal can be had from Cornell and Diehl. Again, talk to them, they are experts at helping beginners. P&C is at...
