    House of Calabash

I'm a fan of his "For Meerschaum's Only" blend. I'm quite curious about his "Ancient Imperial" blend as well but at $65/oz it's a bit pricey for me. With 40 yr old Virginia, 38 yr. old Syrian Latakia, 40 yr old Turkish blend, 45 yr old Burley I can understand the price.

    Liskey Score

I was watching that one too! If it's anything like the Liskey I've got you scored quite a deal.

    I am in BIG trouble!!!

I would try giving them a call and ordering by phone, maybe the representative can figure something out.

    Watch fans?

I don't wear watches often but when I do I have an Oris Artelier with steel band. I really love the look of skeletonized mechanical watches where the movement inside is exposed. I'm also a fan of unorthodox layouts/designs in watches. Unfortunately I've got champagne taste on a beer budget. Here...

Share with me your ultimate tamper ideas

I think it would be very functional if the tamper cap/cover fit on the back of the tamper like a pen cap. That way you don't have extra parts to worry about when using the tamper. also, Rattray's "Fat Caber" tampers are of a similar design. Pricey but less than a Dunhill tamp.

Here's another T. Arita from smokingpipes' gallery

New Caminetto "Evolution Series" - Thoughts?

To me the design looks like a crude version of a Takeo Arita pipe.

Pics of Russian pipe porn & link for hundreds more - same guy (pic heavy)

Here's some more interesting reading on Russian pipes. Main site is in French but these articles are in English. http://www.fumeursdepipe.net/artrusses-eng.htm http://www.fumeursdepipe.net/artrusses2-eng.htm EDIT: Some Eastern European carvers are included.

Looks like the work of Andrey Savenko. His pipes are marked "SAVA"

    Russian PAD

So you're the one! I've been eyeballing that pipe for a while. I've been thinking about picking up a Grechukhin, I'm torn between one of his canted rhodesians or one of his stout numbers with an oval shank.

I had a pipe dream...that does not sound right.....I dreamed about a bamboo pipe

Not Japanese but I'll try to post a pic. These are by Valery Ryzhenko a Ukrainian artist, he's made some reverse calabash style one's that use the full size hollow bamboo as well. Definitely a very unique approach to bamboo usage. Is this the pipe of your dreams rx2man?

    New Turned Tamper

I turned some PVC pipe fittings to try and make a threaded lid for something and that was SCARY to turn. Get the tool at the right depth and you get nice dental floss like shavings, go too deep and the tool catches and you need a change of pants!

    New Turned Tamper

Winton, I believe it was part of a lacewood pen blank I had laying around. Here's one I made for a friend from maple:

    New Turned Tamper

Bought a wood lathe a while ago and I've been super lazy. Got off my butt and made a tamper last week and thought I'd share. Also just ordered some chuck jaws to turn briar, so pipes are on the horizon. Sorry for the poor pic.

    Russian PAD

There are some amazing carvers from Russia some notable ones are: Misha Revyagin Viktor Yashtylov Vladimir Grechukhin Alexander Tupitsyn Sergey Dyomin Sergey Ailarov Borris Starkov It's unfortunate that by the time they make a name for themselves (enough to be know in the states) that the...
