    Spicy 2nd Half

Thanks everyone. I will try changing the way I pack my bowl. That seems to be the constant, regardless of the tobac or pipes I use. YouTube has Gravity / Frank / air pocket / Bob method. Really interesting hobby. Recently I discovered that 1) It’s easier to rekindle a bowl when I sip the pipe...

    Spicy 2nd Half

Hi I don’t get tongue bite caused by hot smoke and puffing too fast. However the 2nd half of my bowl tends to get very spicy. I usually give up and when I remove the left over tobacco, it is often quite damp, which I think causes the spice. Can anyone suggest what i can do? This happens to all...

High-End Pipes - Do They Improve the Smoking Experience?

This is a very interesting thread. My pipes are on average $300 range, occasional I spend $700 on something I think I can’t live without. Maybe every few months, I would find an excuse to fall in love again with another pipe. Most of the time I would buy to try how a particular artisan pipe...

    Casing our briars

I think his late Grandfather probably inserted something to block up the shank, before pouring his favourite cognac into the bowl. Similar to how some add salt and alcohol to de-ghost the briar. In any case I couldn’t wait and have started ‘topping up’ 2 of my least favourite briar bowls with...

    Casing our briars

Yesterday I met up with a friend who said was lamenting about a briar pipe ‘soaked in cognac’ gifted by his late Grandfather. The pipe was ‘accidentally’ disposed of by his spouse who doesn’t approve of our habits. That lead me to wonder if it’s possible to purposely ghost our briar with our...

    Keep It Smokey

I was doing my research on Sea Urchin pipe in Goggle Image, and Sante’s Image popped up clenching it. I have since viewed and enjoyed many of his exotic pipe pictures and comments. RIP

    Dizzy Pipe Prices

Thanks everyone for your kind insights. I am new and just very surprised at the high prices of the Chonowitsch, Eltang, Johnson etc. But I have watched pipe making videos and know I can probably never crave a pipe. It’s really a lot of hard work and the machinery probably cost a lot. I also...

    Dizzy Pipe Prices

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and to still dizzy to the world of pipe smoking. I have observed personally and through this forum that there are indeed “few of us” pipe smokers, sometimes even described as mystical beings. However pipe prices (new/estate) of established brands have been...

    Hello from Singapore

Yes drinks in Singapore are also very heavily taxed. A bottle of Macallan 12yrs cost US$250 at most pubs. Drinking in public (non-restaurants) are limited till 1030pm. But smoking is the worst .. only 10% of the seats are smoking designated... and I haven’t seen PIpe smoking ever! It’s a lovely...

    Hello from Singapore

Warmest Greetings from sunny Singapore (yes we have no winters)! This is a really great forum on the forgotten art of piping in my country. Smoking is generally banned in all buildings, public Parks and sheltered places here. It’s really lonely if you are a smoker, more so a pipe smoker...
