    What’s Your Favorite English?

Hey Mister! Your Pipe Is Awesome!

Most of my friends don't know that I smoke pipes. I usually enjoy my pipe at home on the porch. It's more relaxing to me in that setting, I find. Although, I do dream often of camping trips out in the woods with some hot coffee and a pipe. Maybe someday soon...

    Am I Smoking Too Much?

I wish I could smoke 8-12 bowls a day! My tongue tends to slow me down. I get tongue bite quite easily, so I can usually smoke 2 bowls a day. Like most folks are saying here, it's up to you what is "too much." As long as you are enjoying it, then that's just fine!

    Your Most Versatile Blend

No matter my current tastes or mood, if I just want something that I know I'm going to enjoy, that'll have to be my GL Pease Quiet Nights. That stuff is dynamo. A great taste that changes and evolves in the course of the bowl. Great stuff.

    Tobaccopipes.com

Those guys are fantastic. I got some Amphora Virginia not too long ago that unfortunately had some mold on it. I emailed them, and they immediately sent me 2 pouches (instead of just 1 that I ordered) and said returning the original wasn't necessary. A class act.

Attn Newbies - If I Had It To Do Over Again.

I started pipe smoking at the same time that Dunhill was being discontinued. In that instance, I stocked up on Dunhill because almost everyone was recommending them and I didn't know what the future of Dunhill tobacco would look like. I'm glad I did. If you find a blend that you like, stock up...

(Probably) the wrong approach to cellaring

Opening Night is a great blend! You'll enjoy it...even with just a few months of age!

    An Interesting Discovery

An observation that I'll have to keep in mind for the future. Moisture definitely plays into my number of re-lights when I'm smoking. I find that I sometimes have let my pipe go out and have kept it in my mouth, without noticing that it's gone out (or, as I'm typing, like right now). Candence...

Couple Of Helpful Hints Through Trial And Error.

I've also found that drying time is great for most tobaccos. I live generally with English or non-Aromatic tobaccos, and a good 30 minutes on the table before my smoke is always helpful. (If not for the re-lights, then also definitely for the improvement of taste).

    Virginia fermentation exceleration

If I'm cellaring some tobacco for the long term, I wrap a wet paper towel around an empty glass jar, microwave for 30-45 seconds, then quickly fill the jar with tobacco, and putting on the lid. This should create a slight vacuum in the jar. Make sure to dry the jar before adding the tobacco (the...

    MacBaren Scottish Mix

Hey there! I am also a new-ish member. I'd definitely be interested in the Scottish Mixture. Also definitely interested in a trade. I'll shoot you a PM.

Amphora Virginia - A Brief Review

Great review! I agree that it is so enjoyable to discern all the various flavours that this blend offers. Definitely needs to be immediately jarred. I actually let mine dry out for about an hour, and then jarred it. I wanted to avoid any mold problems, which seems to happen easily if not taken...

4th Generation Small Batch Aged VA

I'd love to see more in the way of aged Virginia tobacco on the market (except for what's on Ebay for outrageous prices). I love the idea of cellaring, and I am, in fact, cellaring. But who knows where I'll be in terms of pipe smoking in the year 2029. That's a long time. Having the option of...

Accosting a Pipe Smoker In The Wild

I've yet to really smoke in public. I've tried smoking at a local park, but since I'm not quite sure what the community rules are involving pipe smoking and smoking in general, I tend to feel more comfortable to smoke at home. I did see a pipe smoker a few weeks back in downtown Savannah. He...

    Pipe Smoking: Hobby? Life Style?

For me, I enjoy the fact that there are so many different types of blends of tobacco and so many types of pipes. It's exciting to pull out different flavors in a blend and truly enjoy the experience. I'm a solitary smoker (as a lot of us are) and the activity helps me to focus my thoughts and...

First Tin Haul! Where to start?

Glad you enjoyed the SR Plum Pudding...that stuff is good. Anything GL Pease is also unbelievable...you'll love Quiet Nights! Enjoy!

    Mold in the tin!

As many have already pointed out, there's definitely a risk that you take when not buying from a retailer. I can tell you that I got some tobacco with mold on it from tobaccopipes .com. I informed them about it via email and they send me TWO packages, that they asked my permission to check for...

    August-2019-TAD

The presentation of that Aged Virginia sure is nice! Definitely let that Bijou age for a bit. For me, it was a bit harsh right out of the tin. Currently letting it mellow out in the cellar!
