MM Charles Towne Cobs Back In Stock

Heard from Marilyn at Missouri Meerschaum that the Charles Towne is back in stock as of Tue (07/17/18). I missed the last production round in May; just placed my order for one right before posting this as I’ve been wanting one :puffy:

    Picture- Mold or Sugar

Mmmmm ... bacteria poop! I love honey, which is bee vomit, so no issue smoking some bacteria poop here! My prediction is that the crystalline strucutre is formed due to microbiology giving off a gas during anaerobic processes that interact with the oils in tobacco (cystal formation via vapor...

Blends I've Come to Really Like

Awesome! Recommend you try some burley dominant blends and straight VAs to round out your list and experience the full spectrum. Maybe even an oriental dominant blend. Lots of great blends in your list; great choices!

    Drying Flakes and Coins

+1 to cube cutting here. I cube cut what I’m going to smoke the night before and let dry overnight. I like to leave the flake in its unadultered form until I’m ready to use as it seems like they retain their moisture better that way until ready to use. I used to leave a flake out overnight...

    Picture- Mold or Sugar

It looks like bloom to me. Do you have a loupe or magnifying glass (both are cheap)? Take a look with some magnification. If it looks crystalline, then smoke and enjoy. If it looks hairy / fuzzy, it’s mold, so throw out.

    Tobacco Ageing Query.

Aromatics generally don’t cellar well due to toppings killing off the micrbiology required for the fermentation processes Virginias age best, and can keep getting better upwards of 30yrs. So if Virginia is a dominant ingredient in the blend, it’ll likely age well Latakia and oriental leaf...

    Tobacco Ageing Query.

Re: jars, you’re introducing oxygen when you put tobacco in to age. The tobacco has to first go through aerobic processes (oxygen required, but depletes) before the anaerobic processes (lack of oxygen required) can begin. The top of the jar going down at this point is a sign that anaerobic...

    The Quintessential English

Pop that Squadron Leader open and report back on the comparison! Or are you trying to age it first (?) I like 1882 by Erik Stokkebye with the KY in the mix. Dunhill’s EMP is a nice blend if you can still get it. Nightcap is a personal favorite, though I’m not sure I would call it...

    Keens Steakhouse - Pic Heavy

That place looks awesome (the pipes and the meal) ... will have to take my wife there for dinner next time we’re out that way! Now for the irony. Were you able to enjoy a pipe there yourself?

    Question about B&M tobacco

Bulk from the B&M jars is a great way to try different leaf. When I started I grabbed 1oz of 5 - 6 different blends to learn what I liked. I’d recommend staying away from the bulk aro’s at first, as my experience is that they tend to be goopy, bite easily for the inexperienced piper, and ghost...
