Perhaps I've been a little too hard headed.

Whiskey...one of my true loves. For more years than I care to remember..Jack Daniel's has been the only whiskey I've ever poured over ice into a tumbler of CocaCola twice every evening. That's a lot of Jack Daniel's, fifteen gallons a year to be exact. I drink several other whiskies straight...

    "Who Let the Dogs Out?!"

Bulldogs! I thought it might be great to have a thread to post photos of your dogs! :D Bulldogs are cool,…..although I have to admit that until recently I thought quite the contrary. I have thanked Uncle Arthur for piquing my interest in them just last winter when he explained that the style...

    Fat Tuesday!

After this evening, I'm gonna miss you guys for the next forty days. I'll be back Easter Sunday! Be good to one and other, but have fun!

    What's for dinner Grand-Pa?

After a terrible bout with three weeks of bad weather, the char-coaler gets fired up tonight and it's fresh ribeyes over mesquite, rare with charred fat,...lots of fresh cracked pepper, plated with baby red potatoes, halved, steamed and tossed in clarified butter with crushed thyme and rosemary...

Guys, do not forget St. Valentine's Day Tommorrow.

I have to work tomorrow, so it's off to the store for me this afternoon. If you know what's good for you, don't get caught with that "deer-in-the-headlight" look tomorrow evening!

Pot of beans, warm fire and a smoke.

Snowmageddon! Who else is sittin' around the house while the wild wind blows?

    I may have messed up.

I may have messed up but I got frustrated this morning. After the sixth pipe-sweetening of a very old abused Comoy Bulldog it still stunk to high Heaven. So I went to the cabinet, got a Glenmorangie commemorative glass that fit the bowl perfectly, filled it with Everclear and tossed the Comoy...

    Three more project pipes started.

I'm really excited about these three old estates I just started; An old Comoy bulldog with some really beautiful burl and no fills that I can see. A circa 1973 GBD New Era bulldog, also with a nice straight grain no fills. A Sasieni sandblasted 4 dot Ruff Root. With these additions to the stable...

The versatility of Mr. G. L. Pease

One of my favorite dishes is a simple but classic Italian pasta dish called Cacio E Pepe. It’s little more than pasta noodles, Pecorino Romano and fresh ground black pepper. Simple but incredible. Tonight I used a recipe posted by Greg a while back...

    My first "save".

Tonight I found an old jar about half full of a tobacco I must have bought a long time ago and forgot about. It was from the Tinder Box and was noted; "Burley Light" I'm pretty sure it's by Lane. I loaded up a bowl and holy-cow, it was about as tasteless as steam. Dumped it, got the jar and...

TAD strikes me hard again today.

One pound of Penzance. I could have bought a new pipe for that! Are there any re-habs for TAD?

    New pre 1955 Marxman.

This late 1940's to early 1950's Marxman Mello-Briar arrived today and got an all-afternoon face-lift beginning with an hour's soak in alcohol, a re-stain, polish and wax job,.....the stem was re-emblemed, sanded, buffed and waxed. It's a beauty and I can't wait for the bowl treatment to dry so...

    Uncle Arthur!!!

You're liable to be the death of me,....you posted a few weeks ago about the "bulldog" in reference to my comment on the fact that I didn't have one yet, and how it was popular at the turn of the century and.....whatever. Well,..............with your post in the back of my mind, I couldn't stand...

    Post Christmas PAD and TAD!

Dang it,....I swore to myself I was going to wait a while after the Holidays before succumbing to PAD or TAD. I didn't make it guys, I'm weak. I pulled the trigger on a Savinelli Churchwarden and a tin of Burley London Blend . It was the last churchwarden in stock, so photos to come in a few...

    Great short film about Perique.

I found this beauty this evening while digging around trying to learn as much as I can about the mistique of perique.... I hope you enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UesCVq-ewqI

Life Magazine photos of men with pipes.

If you haven't already enjoyed these, do as I did; load up and light a bowl, sit back and enjoy the music and slide show of a better time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxbDQeGoM-4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLizpyoVNrQ

    I need some help.

The small meerschaum pipe I bought years ago has been getting much more of a work-out after just recently learning how to take care of it. I realize not that it’s a wonder I didn’t totally screw it up through misuse over the last 15 years. Had I used it properly during that time it might have...

    Darnell mini-churchwarden redux

I told Wallbright I'd post photos of the Darnell Mini Churchwarden he was kind enough to sell me, so here it is before completely sanding down to bare wood, re-cutting the grooves, new stain and finish....and bending the stem a bit. (pun intended) Before after before after before...

    1930's Linkman (Dr. Grabow)

Just got done cleaning this old man up a bit. Seventy-five years of tar in the shank took about 8 sweetening treatments get out. All I gotta do is paint the bowl interior and fire it up. :D According to the seller it’s from the 1940’s but a well known logo site matches it up as a 1930-1935...

    Exhausting research.

Sometimes that light bulb over my head flashes to life when I least expect it to....and I slap myself on the forehead with a; “Dang, why didn’t think of that before?” “Man I’m stupid!” It happened just yesterday, and it's my hope that perhaps this thread might help someone here. My wife...
