Who will be at the 2017 Chicago Pipe Show?

I'm going this year just as a social outing with a buddy from high school. What sorts of unique things will I find that might not be readily available to me from P&C or IRC? I'm not sure what to expect.

Just Finished - Peterson Seven Day

I had never understood why people bought multiple versions of the same pipe. If I only can afford/display "X" amount of pipes, I would have thought I'd want variety in shapes and manufacturers. That said your post shows me how wrong I was! I probably won't double up on any pipes due to the...

When Your Wife Contributes to PAD....

Last night my wife was found on the couch nursing our baby daughter. She must've been bored. The TV is in the other room, all of our handhelds must've been plugged in, and the only reading material within reach was my newest catalogue from P&C. She pointed out two pipes she liked that I've had...

    Thanks for the Conversations

I'm no fan of cobs. I only have one and I fully intend to stick it in the snowman we make with our son this year. I then will throw it in the Christmas decorations box to break out every subsequent winter as long as it holds up to the weather (assuming it holds up one winter at all). The empty...

    Matching tobacco with pipe

I think touching on bowl size/shape would be helpful. I've seen people look at a pipe and say how great it would be for such and such blend or such and such genre. Flakes, plugs, churchwardens, 320s, Black Frigate, Stonehaven etc. How does a particular pipe compliment a tobacco in this way? And...

Tell Our New President About Those FDA Deeming Rules

What are you all putting? I more very little about the new FDA regs and don't know what to say to "make America great again."

Hi, what would be a good pipe to get me started? and which tobacco?

Frog Morton is tasty and very forgiving while you learn to pack your pipe and the proper cadence. Aromatics? Not so much. It gets my vote.

    Matches or Lighters?

I'm an outside smoker. Matches are a no go for me most days. I had a cheap Z-Pipe Butane lighter insert but it stopped giving me a flame so now I use a Peterson pipe lighter. Love it.

    Artisan pipes with 120$ budget

That Rhodesian is beautiful. The black/brown and smooth/rusticated contrast make it pop. The blue stem is not for me but it's not pipe so I'll leave it at that!

    Go Cubbies!

Took the L downtown to Michigan Ave to watch the parade with my wife, two year old son, and one month old daughter. Crazy? Probably. Worth it? Totally. The parade route was long enough that even though the area we stood was so busy I didn't feel catastrophic. A lot of people were at the rally...

    Birth Year Pipes

I believe Dunhills are all stamped with the year. And I just bought a Christmas 2016 pipe and the year is nowhere to be found on the actual Briar. Just the box. I too am interested in obtaining one eventually but am in no rush. I have seen only two '87 Dunhills on eBay but they're too rich for...

    Sutliff Pumpkin Spice

I'll give it another try. I had no trouble with the pumpkin spice or the Cherrybomb that turned me onto trying Aros again. I did have trouble keeping it lit. I think I was putting hard to get it going. Maybe too wet. I usually dry Aros for around an hour but only let this one sit for 15 minutes.

    Sutliff Pumpkin Spice

Hit the maple past the halfway point. Still biting.

    Artisan pipes with 120$ budget

    Artisan =/= commission, correct?

    Sutliff Pumpkin Spice

Smoking Sutliff's Rum & Maple. Getting some tongue bite out of this one. Less sweet than the pumpkin. I only get hints of the maple in taste but is apparent in room note. The rum comes through more for my tongue. Not even halfway through the bowl so these are initial impressions. I was blown...

    Go Cubbies!

What a game! So happy for my dad who is a lifelong Cubs fan born in '48 and hasn't even seen this team in the World Series in his lifetime. I hope he was able to stay awake for it. I also wish I let my coward dogs out during that rain delay. Too scared to pee with all the fireworks going off...

    Tinsky Commission

She's a beaut. I have to stop looking at all these commissions though because then I'll want one.

    Choosing Christmas Tobacco (Help?)

It's your pipe. I agree it's good advice but I'm going to ignore it with my Christmas Pete and smoke the C&D blend recommended above in it first.
