    A cob for Nic bombs

Man, I second that. I smoke strong cigarettes, and have a nicotine addiction, but I still find myself having to take a break sometimes when smoking a bowl of OJK. It's funny because from what I understand, I have other blends that have more nicotine, but none of them deliver it to me as well as...

I'd like a good intro in to strong Burley blends. Is Orlik dark strong Kentucky

I'd suggest Solani Aged Burley Flake. It has some dark-fired Kentucky, but also has air-cured, and will give you an excellent and high-quality example of what burleys offer. Unlike most burley blends, I believe Aged Burley Flake is completely free of Virginias, which is another advantage. Of...

    Pipe Tobacco With Latakia

Bulk blends: Hearth & Home Larry's Blend, Balkan Supreme, McClelland 5110 Dark English, HH Vintage Syrian (have bought in bulk from B&Ms) Tinned Blends: GL Pease Maltese Falcon, Bengal Slices, Hearth & Home Cerberus, Balkan Saieni (available in bulk from cup o' joes) As you can tell, I prefer...

    Jim's Low Country Guendalose Review.

Sounds interesting. As a cigar guy before I became a pipe guy, I should try more cigar leaf blends.I am interested that this blend uses Colombian leaf. Most cigar blends I've seen that specify the leaf indicate broadleaf (CT or PA) maduro. That is certainly an excellent leaf, used on many great...

    Mississippi River is Presbyterian?

Need to get me some of that Log Cabin. I really like MR. I think it's fantastic. Complex, unique, slightly sweet, spicy and tart. Good damn stuff.

    Found a teak pipe stand

Whoa. I think that's really beautiful and cool. Special find.

    Enjoying Latakia?

blueeyedogre: Mybe you just don't like the stuff. A lot of people don't. That said, though I'm unfamiliar with BHT, Nightcap and Frog Morton are both blends where the Latakia is the major player. Maybe try some blends where it's used more sparingly, as a condiment. Dunhill Early Morning Pipe is...

Trying Perique blends: PS Luxury Bullseye Flake & Savinelli Doblone d’Oro

The first time I bought LBF, I thought it was amazing. The second batch I got, which was from a different retailer than the first, I was pretty underwhelmed. I'm guessing it may be a difference in age. Thinking of buying one of the 24 oz boxes, and aging it for a couple of years. I also enjoy...

TAD June 2016 Tell Me Your Favorite

I've only had Elizabethan and Maltese Falcon out of those. Elizabethan is nice, but Maltese Falcon is one of my favorite Latakia blends. I love it. Like my friend mso489, I used the P&C build your own sampler deal to try some new blends, particularly a few on the pricier side of average. SPC MS...

    Country Squire Has New Owner

Can anyone recommend any of the house blends? What are the must-trys? I'd like to support someone newly jumping into the tobacco business.

    Jim's McClelland Yenidje Highlander Review.

Great review, Jim. I see you've mentioned that unflavored soda flavor that you get from Yenidje, and I think I know what you mean. It comes across as a slightly sour taste and spicy tingle mouthfeel if I'm tracking you.

P&C Tobacco of the Month Club - June 2016

I bet they're consider the LLRR to be the non-aro, even though it is listed as an aromatic on their site. I know they list the Match Edgeworth RR as a non-aro.

    The fine white ash myth

This has kind of been my experience. I would say that I probably smoke most bowls to ~ 90% completion. By that point, it seems the Latakia blends I enjoy lose a lot of their flavor for me, though there are some exceptions. In certain cases, VA-based blends will build in sweetness until the very...

    Frankenblend Roll Call

I really enjoy a 50/50 mix of C&D Autumn Evening with H&H Anniversary Cake.

P&C Tobacco of the Month Club - June 2016

Nice haul. It looks like the LLRR is only sold in 14 oz tubs, normally, so it's cool they're breaking it down into 2oz bulk bags for club members. I wish I could buy it by the oz like that.

    The fine white ash myth

I've thought/wondered the same thing. I've rarely finished a bowl so thoroughly that there is nothing but s fine, white ash left. Usually, the bowl loses its appeal for me before that point.

    The Next Logical Step

I have had excellent luck preparing plugs with a double-blade guillotine cigar cutter. If you already have one, great. If not, I use a cheap, $5 one. Basically, start on a corner and cut off shavings of the plugs with the cigar cutter. Then rub out the little mini flakes and chunks. If you lose...
