Stanwell Brushed Black Pipes - $19.99 at P&C

@jvnshr I literally bought the last one. I got around the shipping thing by buying 3 other models. :D TBH, I think the brushed finished is the least attractive and comfortable to hold of any finish. But for that price.... My "real" HCA cutty is possibly the best smoker I have.

    Frog Morton: nunc comprehendo

@dfo how does it age? 20 years is pretty damn old, so curious how it compares to more recent.

    cellarlabels.com

I was being sarcastic ashdigger, because I think this whole thread is absurd. The thing is, it is so obviously a "fan" website, with bad spellings, clumsy disclaimers etc. The guy has even made up amateurish tin "art" for bulk blends that have no art. I think it's invidious to threaten him...

Quality, Quintessential Bulk Blends on a Budget

For aros I prefer LL7 to RLP. Lane Dark Red is really good - a cherry version of BCA. Sutliff Queen Anne's Revenge is probably my favorite bulk aro (besides Boswell's which don't really fit the "budget" requirement"

    Suggestions for 1792 Flake Mix

GH black cav, in bulk. It's not all BC and it's fire cured so really doesn't detract much from the 1792 flavors. I have the same issue - love the stuff, but don't love the nic.

    TP has Germain and Esoterica

I wonder if people who compare Penzance to Star of the East or Lancer's are responding simply to the presence of Latakia? Those making the comparison, how many Lat blends have you smoked? Not presuming anything or judging anyone, just curious. They seem like totally different blends to me.

    Any Dual Citizens Here?

That's true about friendly countries @warren. Right now we're seeing shifting alliances and baiting between the US and ostensibly "friendly" countries, and cozying up to "unfriendly" ones. But I don't make my judgements based on which country I was born in - I make them based on the...

    Any Dual Citizens Here?

For those of you talking about allegiance and loyalty, I'm curious - what situation do you envision that would force you to choose between one or the other? Many people have dual citizenship between mutually friendly Western democracies. I don't really envision a war between the US and the UK...

    Any Dual Citizens Here?

UK and US. I value my UK citizenship greatly because it also makes me an EU citizen. At least until I am stripped of those rights and privileges if/when it happens with Brexit. I have no issue with "allegiance" to more than one country. Maybe if I were a US/Russian or North Korean citizen I'd...

    SP has Rattray's in stock

The pipe smoking community is now in a constant state of panic-buying and hoarding. SG, GH, Rattray, Wessex, Solani.... pretty much everything goes out of stock within minutes these days. I think it's a knock-on effect of equal parts McClelland fallout, FDA paranoia, and Esoterica mania.

Mac Baren's HH Balkan Blend and Cyprian Vs. Syrian

@rotate - very interesting post. I've wondered how Cyprus could produce so much Latakia, being a fairly small island and still showing the effects of ancient Roman deforestation. A lot of wood is used to smoke tobacco to make Latakia, which is why they banned it in Syria. If the currently...

Mac Baren's HH Balkan Blend and Cyprian Vs. Syrian

The new version of HH Vintage Syrian is called HH Vintage Latakia. http://www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/11487/mac-baren-hh-vintage-latakia This Balkan is a new blend - presumably more Oriental-forward.

Since Frog Morton is no more....

It's really mostly stoved VA, which is essentially Black Cav made with VA, plus a bit of Latakia - I'd guess no more than 1/4 or 1/3. So the key would be to find some VA Black Cav rather than the kind made with Burley. (and + Orientals for OTT, and Perique for OTB). I think all have the same...

Since Frog Morton is no more....

Padre Piper's are Northwoods, Blackhouse, Fr. Dempsey, Star of the East, and Skiff. IMHO, only the 1st and 3rd are like FM. Derek Tant's are Northwoods, Moonshine XXX, and Shortcut to Mushrooms. Though he prefers Quiet Nights, Magnum Opus, Blackhouse. But he also pretty much says all Lat...

    Vacation to Spain

Public transport is excellent (and cheap) in Spain. Malaga to Marbella would probably take an hour or so, and would be a nice way to see some coast. Malaga is lovely, but Marbella is a super-developed modern high-rise resort town.

First Smoke with MB Amphora Virginia, HH Arcadian Perique & Orlik Racing Green

I don't like Perique, I don't like Burley, and I'm not a fan of strong nicotine. But for some reason I loved Acadian Perique! Go figure.
