The blessing and curse of Bohemian Scandal

About a year ago, I asked the forum about Bohemian Scandal. From what I'd read, it sounded like something I'd like. Besides, I was fascinated by both the name and the tin art :) Soon afterwards, I spotted a tin (from 2004) on Pipestud's website, and managed to snatch it. And, as a birthday gift...

    B&M recommendations in Chicago?

I'll be in Chicago for Christmas, and of course I'll try to sneak a visit to a tobacconist in. I searched the forum, but all I get are references to the pipe show :P So, any must-visit tobacconists in Chicago? Thanks!

    Nooooooo!

Such a young tin... Barely knew the inside of a pipe bowl... :(

Frog Morton Cellar for *only* $1,150.00!

I must say, pipe tobacco prices are really soaring these days ;)

    Oh dear...

We're moving to a new house, so I had to pack my cellar. I've recently been remiss at keeping tabs, but I feel I may have gone a bit overboard here :puffy:

    Germain's Rich Dark Flake?

I've recently moved from Amsterdam to San Francisco, and brought with me some tobacco that I wanted to try and knew would be hard to find in the US. Amongst them, J. F. Germain & Son's Rich Dark Flake. I haven't smoked it yet, but I've just opened the pouches to jar them, and bloody hell, it...

What I brought over to the US

Here it is, all I managed to bring from my cellar, when I moved to the US. The rest I either sent to my brother-in-law, a recent pipe smoker, or stored safely in the attic, back in Europe. Now, to build a new cellar here :)

    "That is *awesome*!"

... Said a guy walking past me just as I lit my pipe, on my way home from work :puffy: Why, thank you. Perhaps our hobby isn't so unpopular after all :)

Moving to the US - any good books on US history?

Hello all, In a month or so I'm moving to the US (more specifically San Francisco), with wife, child and cats. Lots of packing going on ;) I'm looking for recommendations of books about US history, both older (say, civil war-era) and recent history (20th century). Not only do I find history...

    A Day in the Life

Has anyone else noticed that the restored video for The Beatles' "A Day In The Life" ends with a man lighting a pipe? :) http://mashable.com/2015/10/27/beatles-music-video-1/#5xWBpAK29mqD

    G. L. Pease website down (or am I blocked)?

Hi all, Every time I try to access http://www.glpease.com/ it seems to be down, and I just say "oh well" and move on. Today it actually occurred to me that the problem might be on my end :| And, indeed, http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/http://www.glpease.com/ says that the site is up. Perhaps...

    Perseid meteor shower

Just a heads-up (pun intended): tonight is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower! I went outside with a friend, a pipe, a pillow and some whisky. We ended up staying there for almost 3 hours and saw loads of meteors, satellites, and of course just gazed at a starry night. I'm sure iamnate8 will...

Does G.L. Pease's Bohemian Scandal deserve its reputation?

Hi all, A couple of hours ago, one of pipestud's tins of Bohemian Scandal was sold for about US$100. Now, I don't want to get into the merit of the price itself. As I said on another thread, it's your money, your taste, your hobby. Go for it and enjoy! But I've had this fascination with Bohemian...

My "loot" from the US (or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Embrace TAD)

Just got back from the US, and thought I'd share my acquisitions there: Not on the picture is also Yule Log, one of Russ Ouellette's monthly blends (whose description of "will remind you of the aroma of the fireplace" sold it to me, as this was the comparison that originally drove me to smoking...

    Must-have american tobacco?

Hi all, I'll be in the US (San Francisco) for a week-long business trip, and I'll take the opportunity to get some pipe tobacco that I can't find over here in the Netherlands. I'll probably order from Smoking Pipes (because I have a coupon for Erik Stokkebye's [excellent] 4th Generation) *and*...

Anyone up for a bowl in San Francisco next week?

Hi all, Just when I thought I'd manage to become more active in the forum, life catches up, I have a new baby, and there goes my free time ;) But I'll be in San Francisco, for work, from Sunday to Friday next week. I'll be very busy, but I might have part of Sunday, and an evening or two free...

Pipe "appearance" on BBC Radio 4 Good Omens

Just a quick mention for those interested in the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens, which starts broadcasting tonight at 11 (GMT). Have a look at Simon Jones's photo here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/galleries/p02czqzz :) [Or follow this direct link]

Nomenclature: "cellar" vs "rotation" (vs both)

Hi, I'm curious as to how people refer to their collection of pipe tobacco. The terms I use are "cellar" for tobacco that's been put away to be smoked at a later date, and "rotation" for tobacco that's routinely smoked. But I've also read people say "cellar" to mean all of their tobacco, both in...
