    Shamrocks & Shenanigans 2024

St Patrick’s Day has become more of a somber day for me. Now for me it’s a day to remember those lost on Bloody Sunday and throughout The Troubles, to remember what the Irish endured during the famine, and the struggles the Irish had to gain independence. It’s very inspiring to know what the...

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

After reading Pete Stokkebye’s book I decided to try out the 4th Generation tins that don’t include Latakia (not a fan of Latakia). Also picked up some C&D blends.

Why do You Smoke a Pipe?

For me it’s all about relaxation. Having a pipe is a calming, stress relieving, and a meditative time.

How Long does a Smoke Last?

A smoke lasts until you’ve smoked all the leaf lol. Like most who’ve posted already, my pipes are about .75” round and 1.5” deep chambers and I usually get about 90mins out of it.

Tyler Edwards from Levoy's Leathers on Radio Show of February 13, 2024

Great interview! Got to meet Tyler briefly at the Las Vegas International Pipe Show last October. He’s a great guy and is very talented in leather work. As part of my way to stay engaged in the hobby since my health situation has put limits on it, I ordered a tobacco tray from him and it’s...

    Cats & Pipes

My cat Calhoun, she’s a fluff bug. Always runs up with me when I go to bed for good night pets before I go to sleep.

    My first Eltangs

Once I finally found an estate for a reasonable price I found out what all the rave was about. Just a great workhorse pipe.

Who do You Send Your Pipes for Professional Cleaning?

Sounds like I should give Tim West a call. Thanks!

SP Doesn't Do Extra Pictures Anymore?

I’ve noticed it for quite some time. Anything $100 and under usually has two side shots that’s it. When you hit about $300 you get overhead of the bowl and underside too. Maybe a close up of the shank or adornments. I honestly never gave it much thought myself.

    What are You Reading Now?

Currently reading this one. Too close to the beginning to say if it’s good, really good, or bad.

Who do You Send Your Pipes for Professional Cleaning?

Title edited to lower case articles and unimportant works. I’m thinking about bringing my collection of Sam Adebayo pipes to the LVIPS in October, but I’d like to send them off to be professionally cleaned better than I can do myself. Looking for suggestions of reputable places to send them off...

I Must Be A Blind Squirrel - Finally Found A Love For Acorns

It only took 11yrs, but I finally found a love for the acorn shape. The last 3-5yrs I was on the hunt for straight pipes; lovats, billiards, apples. Bent pipes just weren’t appealing to me. A week ago I stumbled on Sean Reum’s Instagram and absolutely fell in love with an acorn he had made...

Patent Era Pete In Tough Shape!

I have no idea how to solve that massive crack, but if you do I’d love to see the after pics.

    Favorite Navy Flake

All time favorite is Stokkebye’s Luxury Navy Flake. Honorable mention goes to Newminster 400 Superior Navy Flake (I just realized how ironic it is I’m giving honorable mention to something named superior).

Do You Have A Tobacco Tray?

I picked up this one recently from Levoy Leatherworks. Tyler was at the LVIPS back in October and I got to meet him, really good guy. My show budget ran out when I made it to his table, so I recently ordered this off his website ( www.levoysleathers.com ) . I also have him working on a custom...

    Future Blenders

As just a consumer I have no idea what will happen to the market. Jon David and Quinn are young and I’m pretty sure Jeremy Reeves is fairly young as well. It’d make for a great series maybe, having some younger tobacco blenders on the show.

    New Guy from Texas

Welcome from Las Vegas. A friend of mine lives in the San Antonio area. Went down for his wedding a few years back and had a great time there.

    Soap Taste When Smoking Virginia

Curious to see what came of this. The only time I’ve ever had a soapy taste from a tobacco was Ennerdale Flake.
