    Reasons To Dislike Apple/Macintosh Computers

Interesting topic. All of my doctor frineds use macs. I switched over from my highly spec'd PC to a similar Mac 2 years ago and it literally changed my life. The mac leaves the pc in the dust and makes it look like a toy. Dont hate on Mac. It is the first and only laptop that I ever had ovet...

Anybody A Health Care Professional? Doctor Or Nurse?

Im in residency. My friends all smoke the occasional cigar but regular smoking is very uncommon by docs these days. Tons of my patients smoke.

    Pipe Identification Help

That shape along with the stem mount and button shaping looks very Peterson-esque. Can ayone chime in if there were any Petes made in Italy?

Replacing Missing Wood---Heavily Damaged Patent Dunhill (pic heavy)

That's truly some excellent handiwork! Can you share with us what epoxy was used in this magical process? And was the draft hold breached at any point? looks like it may have gotten awfuul close, but you just used your pipe making wizardry to stay clear of it!

    Stem Repair Using Black Superglue

I put superglue in and on people all the time. Its completely safe and inert once it sets. The glue we orthopods use to cement in knee replacements is chemically similar to superglue and we also use it to close skin all the time. Bottom line: superglue is nontoxic once dried.

    Pipes made of cadaver bone

Burning human bone smells not so good. I work with bone daily as an orthopod, anytime we burn bone during surgery with a hotknife or drilling thru it, the room fills with a kind of acrid smell thats hard to describe but not one that you would want to inhale.

Visiting Charlotte North Carolina looking for a B&M

Gentlemen, I will be visiting Charlotte NC for a conference in January. Can any of my esteemed brothers recommend a nice B&M to visit? The hotel I am staying at is in the downtown area and I will not be having a car, so something in walking distance would be best.

    Broken Pipecleaner

Drain cleaner will probably eat away the stem or dissolve it. A good solution may be to try cold or heat. Different materials expand and contract at different rates in hot and cold. Freezing the stem may loosen the wire up. Another solution may be grabbing the wire with a hemostat and pulling...

    'We Are Thinking About God'

A fascinating read. There were days when one could have a smoke in the study hall while learning talmud. Not any more! Although smoking is still very popular among hassidic people now, it's mostly cigarettes.

    Newbie queston on tendon

<p>As an orthopedic surgery resident, I am happy to dispense advice on tendon procedures. I usually use a scalpel and scissors to clean up tendons, followed by a wash with sterile saline solution. PM me if you need me

    Sasieni Second Mayfair estate pipe

It doesn't have a shape number. All it says is "Mayfair London made" on one side and "Made in England" on the other.

Is there a way to "untone" a darkened meerschaum pipe back to white?

Based on some basic chemistry: The stains are probably complexed within the molecules of the meer itself, so taking it out would probably dissolve the pipe...i wouldn't try it.

    Plugged Shank

Poke around with an alcohol soaked pipe cleaner to find the hole. Like coffeeman said, it will be a straight, so you will be able to run a drill bit down. Use the drill bit by hand to avoid damaging the shank.

    The State of Estates 2014

I try to find seconds from well known makers. There are tons of names for seconds lines from makers like comoy's, Dunhill, Sasieni, so when you see a pipe with an unknown name, just google it on the spot. A second in good condition from an antique shop should cost no more than $25. You will...

    Sasieni Second Mayfair estate pipe

Me too. I pretty much only buy estate seconds. Theres no reason to spend more than $30 on a great smoke. Plus buying estates gives me the pleasure of restoring the pipe too, which I enjoy just as much as smoking them!

    A real man's hat

A real man should have proper headwear. Here's mine: A real man wears a real hat. And removed it indoors and when speaking to a lady. This unfortunately lost on today's generation...

    Sasieni Second Mayfair estate pipe

I recently bought a Mayfair bent pipe at an antique shop. It had a thick cake, chipped rim, oxidized stem, and a lakelands ghost. After a thorough cleaning/reaming/SA treatment it smokes quite well! I paid $20 which i feel was well worth it. A google search told me this is a sasieni second...
