P&T Magazine (and parent co.) Have a New Owner

For quite a long time, P&T was a labor of love and commitment on the part of the publishers and the community. This hobby is too small to support a four-color, glossy magazine, even with very loyal advertisers and subscribers. We’re lucky we had it as long as we did.

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

Woodsroad: So, let's go back to the top and revisit the allegations made here, and on Facebook: 1. Comoy never made a cross grain Blue Riband. HAVE YOU SEEN THE PIPE? WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU HAVE THAT COMOY MADE THE PIPE? THE EVIDENCE IS TO THE CONTRARY. ALL COMOY PUBLICATIONS, MARKETING, AND...

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

JoeMan, while it isn't a great specimen, it does have vertical orientation. It is not a cross grain, which was used in the Tradition line. It is also a fairly late pipe, as evidenced by the shape number. These higher numbers were introduced later in the production.

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

At the risk of beating a dead horse, let me try and explain yet again. 1. Blue Ribands were never made. They were selected from frased stummels in a sorting process after they had been made. They were selected according to qualitative criteria, principally that they had a straight, vertical...

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

Here is just one image of a Comoy Blue Riband stamp when photographed. (I could post tens of these if people want to see them). Notice that the light and color across the stamp are consistent. You don't see changes of light direction or refraction. Luminosity is consistent. In some places, the...

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

By the way, I think had a grand mal seizure with respect to the 110 shape number. It was originally introduced as a cutty then later reassigned to a billiard. I own both shapes. It was my mistake.

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

John Adler (former president of Comoy) told me that there was no such thing as a cross grain Blue Riband. I specifically asked him with respect to a clarification of brand guidelines. That's how I know.

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

Unfortunately, it appears I caught this late. The auction is over in a couple of hours. The guy messaged me back saying he was going to report me to eBay for bad manners for implying his auction was fraudulent. He let me know he is a person of high integrity. Obviously, his integrity is not high...

Fraudulent Comoy Blue Riband eBay listing

Heads up: There is a fraudulent listing for a Comoy Blue Riband Shape 110 on eBay now. There are several tells: 1. Comoy never made a cross grain Blue Riband. 2. Shape 110 is a cutty, not a billiard. 3. Close inspection reveals that the nomenclature was photoshopped. None of the wood...

David is an amazing guy. He has an extraordinary depth of experience, and he is a terrific guy.

Rare Blue Riband Shape Added "The Globe"

Beautiful pipe, Bob. Really! There are definitely lines predating the Blue Riband that have the contrast stain; I have several.

    Separated At Birth?

It's really not complicated. The point of this entire thread (and the blog post I made) is that the buyer deserves to have the same information that the seller has. If a seller withholds information or intentionally misrepresents condition, that seller is at fault. There is no rationalization...

    Separated At Birth?

I hope that there is some explanation for this. I find it hard to believe that the seller would tarnish his reputation for a relatively small profit on a one-pipe flip sale. If that's the case, it just makes me very, very sad. I've written a number of posts addressing undisclosed pipe remodeling...

KC Pipe Show - Best Pipe in Show

That's an interesting pipe. Although David has called it a bowtie, when I look at it, what I see is an evolved variation of Wolfgang Becker's wasp shape taken to an organic extreme. The pinched waist and asymmetrical shank flare endows the pipe with an organic feel as opposed to a sculptural...

Passion For Pipes Has Restarted Woohoo

Hey guys, Thanks for the props on restarting the blog. Over the last year or so, my life took a series of unexpected turns, resulting in my having to refocus my priorities. Now that things have settled down, I have a bit more time to write. Plus, I'm finding I have stories to tell and things to...
