    What pipe is this?

Jeffro, yes could be. The more I look at it the more I think pot shape, maybe a Kaywoodie 69.

    What pipe is this?

mso489, I think you may have something. He was certainly the kind of guy to use American made.

    What pipe is this?

Thanks Scott. Now all I need is the pipe.

    What pipe is this?

Kinda hoping someone might have read somewhere if Chesty had an affinity towards any certain brand of pipe. More than likely an American made pipe as you stated. Since he passed away in 1971 a Kaywoodie would certainly fit the time frame. The first photo of him smoking a pipe was taken in the...

    What pipe is this?

Yes sir, I see the similarity. The bowl in the pic looks more billiard in shape to me than the one you have. I also found a Kaywoodie that was very similar. You are right, the logo on the stem is not clear enough to discern. Also hard to tell if the finish is smooth or rough.

    What pipe is this?

Can anyone help ID the pipe in this photo. The pic is of General Chesty Puller in Civvies, probably after his retirement from the Marine Corps. Just curious what kind of pipe it is and if they are still available somewhere. Thanks for the help.

    C&D epiphany

Just tried some epiphany bulk and some sutliff revelation match back to back and actually liked the sutliff better.

    C&D epiphany

Is there a difference in taste for the epiphany in tins vs the epiphany bulk?

10 year old Nightcap pretty dry

Madox07, I think you are right. This is almost completely black now compared to new nightcap in a tin. Still tastes pretty darn good though.

    Squadron Leader Initial impression

I like Early Morning Pipe. It has a better taste to me, not real strong, but it does have a pleasant taste. The SL not so much. I think I will sit the SL aside for a while and try again later. Do any of the other Sam Gawith tobaccos , like St James Flake, have a better or more pronounced taste...

    Squadron Leader Initial impression

I have a tin of Sam Gawith Squadron Leader and have smoked several bowls. I cannot find a taste/flavor to this tobacco. I know there are quite a few people who enjoy it and it might just be a YMMV issue with me, but I do not taste anything. Certainly nothing unpleasant, but just a blah type...

    Sampling Sam Gawith Flakes

Workman, thank you sir. I read a very lengthy thread on this subject and it did not really help me much so your succint lsiting of what is and is not considered Lakeland in the SG blends/tobaccos is very helpful. Now I just need to wait for the next shipment of SG; Best Brown, Squadron Leader...

    Sampling Sam Gawith Flakes

So, are all Samuel Gawith blends considered Lakeland or just a few? Which ones? I have only tried Best Brown Flake and Squadron Leader and did not notice any strange (floral) flavor or scent. My tongue needs a good scrubbing though so that could be a contributing factor..
