Matt & Briar Lee, Thank you both for your insight. Very much appreciated.

    Kaywoodie 8755

Was curious if anyone could give me some information on one of the Kaywoodie pipes I have? If my memory serves me right, I have owned this pipe for at least 15 years and have never smoked it myself. I believe I bought it from a guy living in Jacksonville Florida but it is possible I have this...

How do you store your pipes?

I just use simple pipe racks. I have two on my mantle downstairs that will hold about 30 combined. The few that I am using regularly are just laying upstairs on the wine rack in the kitchen. Nothing fancy but it works for me.

    Omega Stem

Well I didn't notice any appreciable difference after trying to open the stem with a drill bit. I honestly think that due to the bend of stem i just couldn't get enough of it open. I will either try a replacement stem or additional practice with the pipe. Thanks.

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

I always used the powdered oxyclean but I would think that may work as well. I also used the magic eraser but with limited success. Before I got micromesh I brought really fine wet/dry sandpaper from Wally World and used that. Took a fair amount of time but had good results

    Omega Stem

I spoke with Dr. Grabow and a replacement stem will cost $14. Knowing that I can get a replacement will now allow me to try and remedy the current stem without worry. Time to get a drill bit.

    Omega Stem

No filter is being used so no problem there. I have an alochol soaked cleaner in the stem now so I will see what that does to help. Maybe it is just me. When I compare it to my Lark or Savoy, the only other Grabow's I have, the draw is more restricted. And the same goes for comparing to my other...

    Omega Stem

Ok folks need some direction here. I have a Grabow Omega that I got as an estate from Ebay. I really like the pipe and how it feels in the hand. What I really hate is the stem. It really restricts the draw. I have tried it several different times and just cannot make myself like it. I don't want...

    Smoking to the bottom...

I am still too new to offer much advice but here goes anyway. Forget about it and just dump it when you are no longer enjoying the smoke, or can't get it lit. I was really bad about letting this stress me to the point that the frustration was greatly outweighing the joy, I didn't want to waste a...

    Free Pipe Project

I can say that I don't need any pipes or tobacco but the generousity shown on this forum is outstanding. The friendliness shown to total strangers is a true blessing in this day and age. Great job. Rex

    Christmas in July?

Well since I am putting together an order I may just have to go ahead and pick up another tin or 2 of Christmas Cheer. Just this week I popped the top on a can of 2006 that my son had gotten for me years ago and I had stored in a box. That tin had been through one divorce, two job changes and 4...

    Buying pipe online?

smedasaurus, You could check out www.milantobacco.com. I know they sell the Savinelli line although not sure about this specific pipe. Check out their site and give them a call. Great little shop in Roanoke Virginia and always pleasant to speak with. Rex

    Duration of Smoke

Thanks for the welcome and the feedback. Last night had more time to sit and smoke. It was raining out so no yard work :-). Of course this evening I will have to make up for that. I did get most of the bowl smoked and it only took me about three hours. Oh the pleasure of progress!!

    Duration of Smoke

I have read many of the threads on here over the past several days. Forgive me if this in here and I missed it. I read with awe of those who sit and smoke for 45 minutes to an hour and have the time to relax and enjoy their pipes. For me this just isn't an option. What I have found is that I...
