the peterson system sump is easily cleaned as stated above with either a qtip or rolled piece of kitchen roll,every so often I employ a warm water flush to really keep the sump clean. Now if you buy a neglected Pete ,yes it can take some work to clean the sump but if cleaned every smoke about...- paulfg

Old Meerschaum Stuck Tenon
Well the pipe arrived. I managed to loosen the stem with a little heat from a hairdryer and after cleaning out the crud in the mortice it now clocks perfectly.Mine did not have the bone threads only the metal part. The draft hole and mortice were chock a block with old tar. It smokes...- paulfg

I can understand a small pipe for strong blends or short smokes. I dont get the "I don't have time" thing lf I couldn't find a spare hour at least a couple of times a day then something is wrong with my life Surely you don't work 24/7 ,relax a little- paulfg

many thanks, looking at the pictures it looks like I wont be able to move just the silver on the stem. Hopefully it may separate with smoking as you suggest.If not I will leave well alone and not force it for fear of breaking the amber stem- paulfg
