Cake or no cake?
I'm a fan of seasoning the briar, and cake is always kept to a minimum in my pipes. Carbon is kept somewhere around egg shell thickness at most. Any thicker than that, and you are smoking cake deposited from previous tobaccos, which in turn is affecting the flavor of the current bowl. This is...- dutch65

Help... Coloring My New Meerschaum

How Many of You Smoke Indoors?
I rarely if ever smoke outside. The wind currents make my cigars burn much faster, and can cause uneven burn in a pipe, and possibly cause damage to the inside of a pipe bowl. I remember reading somewhere that it's best to smoke indoors, with proper ventilation, and I believe that.- dutch65
