The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 248

Kevin Godbee
Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with pipe maker Russ Cook. Russ has been making pipes part-time for 20-years. He makes one-of-a-kind pipes in both classic shapes and freehand designs. Russ has a devoted following, and also takes custom orders for pipes as well. He’s lived in the state of Michigan his entire life.  In the Pipe Parts segment, Brian will discuss why he uses a coffee grinder to break up hi flake tobaccos. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.

We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • Great show, Brian. Was getting concerned when you hadn’t posted it at the usual time. Felt like a worrying father waiting up 🙂
Russ Cook sounds so laid back he makes you want to fire up a bowl just listening to him. Then you played Lester Young and sealed the deal. Brilliant. By the way I’m all caught up on the shows now. Only thing left to do is go back and listen through again. Keep em coming mate.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Damn, here it is Tuesday and I am just now posting this. (sigh). Well it was a good show. Russ in person is somewhat soft spoken so it was a delight to be able to hear him. In addition to winning the Slow Smoke Contest at the KC Show he won an award for Best Non-Briar Non-Meer Pipe at the show. He didn’t have too much to say at our show but he really does have quite an accent.

  • Great show as usual, until the end…Are you saying Texas BBQ requires ketchup or that do you think it comes with ketchup for some reason? Either way I’m offended! Get yourself some proper Texas smoked brisket and stop spreading fake news! LOL
    …And yes, I am a Texan.
FYI, the Texas Pipe Show is actually a collaboration of all 4 Texas Pipe Clubs, including Austin, Houston, Dallas, & Waco.
