The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 182

Kevin Godbee
Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with Rolando Negoita. Rolando is a Romanian artisan pipe craftsman residing in the downstate Catskill Mountain area of New York. His pipes are what he calls …”functional sculpture linked to a world where I let my imagination wander.” In the "Pipe Parts" segment Brian will talk about the Dunhill inner tube, and how you can tell if you have an original stem. Brian is in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the Tobacconist Association of America Trade Association. (They eat a lot of Mexican food there… except they just call it food.). Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.

We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • John? John? Where are you? Hope you’re OK.
    Hola Señor Brian,
The conversation with Rolando was wonderfully interesting.
SRV and Albert King, an incredible meeting.
I, too, am easily annoyed by some of the Twitter-speak language short-cuts and in vogue epithets used by our community. My pet peeves include the use of “baccy” and reviewers writing about McClelland’s “ketchup.” Aack! Please stop.

  • Interesting discussion of Dunhill Inner Tube. The inner tube is not for me.
I enjoyed the discussion of pipes with Rolando. Very enjoyable.
And the rant was enjoyable too.

  • Hi Brian,
I have only had a few Dunhill pipes in my collection, and none of them had the inner tube.
The interview with Rolando was very enjoyable. I hope the future here is not like the past there when there was a scarcity of tobacco.
Music: SRV and Albert King, Pride and Joy…Great Song. There is a video on Utube with them doing “Born under a Bad Sign”, one of the guitar pieces I learned (well maybe).
Rant – I agree. Just too many people throwing around screwy abbreviations, without knowing what they are talking about. No need associating tobacco with drugs.
    Nice show.
