Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with Pipe Maker Mark Price. Mark has only been making pipes for a short time. However, as a former cabinet maker, and with the tutelage from several high-profile pipe makers, he quickly became skilled enough to be one of the winners in the Kansas City Club’s carving contest this year. In "Pipe Parts", Brian will talk about the different types of tobacco strains and varieties. Later, he will talk about his vacation to Disney World. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, CupOJoes.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos, and MarketingPipes.com. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.

We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • Hi Brian,
Nice summary of different varieties of tobaccos.
No, I am not familiar with Mark Price nor his pipes. It sounds like he is well on his way to going forward with his craft. I will have to check him out at Chicago next spring.
Music – Drive In – Nice piece.
Rave/rant – I agree and concur. I guess I am thankful that I have you to fill up my Tuesday evenings. Happy Thanksgiving Brian. Have an enjoyable one.

  • Hi Brian,
Enjoyed your summary on the different varieties of tobacco, Virginia is #1!I am not familiar with Mark Price but sounds like he”ll have a bright future, when I think about Mark Price I think about the one who played point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 80″s.As for your rave “Amen Brother”. Unfortunately, I cannot smoke my pipe after Thanksgiving dinner but can think about how nice it would be.I watched your video of your presentation at the West Coast Pipe Show, Great Stuff! wished you could do something like that in Columbus. Happy Thanksgiving Brian.! Great show!!

  • Really good discussion of the different varieties of pipe tobacco. I wish to heck I could remember things like that.
And it’s “eee” not “ruh” or “rah”.
Mark Price is a fine young man who is very talented. He seems to have an eye for design that most carvers just don’t have. As you noted he was one of the seven winners in the KC 2015 carving contest. With five kids he needs to spend more time away from home.
    The music was inoffensive.
A lot of entertainment places are really cutting back on places for people to sit and just relax or rest. You know there is some useless number cruncher behind this.
I have always believed in evolution as a self evident truth, but I am really concerned that evolution may work both ways (i.e. you can go backwards also).

  • Hello Brian,
Excellent show as always. Really enjoyed to lesson on tobaccos. The interview with Mark Price was an good one. As always your music selection was good, though I will listen to anything really. Thanksgiving always has a double meaning for me, its a great day to enjoy friends and family with great food and lots of it, as well as it being near birthday (it was my birthday this year.) I was able to enjoy a pipe and a “birthday” blend of tobacco.
I was wondering as a fellow Concordian/Charlottean where would you recommend going to enjoy a nice pipe, besides your living room. I live in a smokeless house and I have to smoke outside. It normally doesn’t bother me unless it is really cold or raining. Thanks in advance. Love the show.

  • Loved the show as well. I really need to explore the orientals as I’m not sure I have ever isolated the taste of them.
Hey @padgaland – JR Cigars has a relatively new location in Mooresville that I’ve never been to but understand has a wonderful smoking lounge, as well as a good selection of pipe tobacco. The address is:
