Confessions of A Pipeman on National TV with Jimmy Fallon

We would like to be the first to congratulate Gary B. Schrier for getting national attention for pipe smokers everywhere by having his book featured on the "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" show.

Jimmy is obviously not a pipe smoker himself, as "Confessions of A Pipeman" ranked #2 on his "Do Not Read List". Jimmy poked fun at the book, Gary, and Marty Pulvers as well.

We don’t really know who said it first, some say P.T. Barnum, and others say it is a paraphrase of Oscar Wilde, but "Any Publicity is good publicity!"

This video is pretty funny. We hope you enjoy it.

  • A funny piece. The fact that Schrier and Pulvers are not household names outside of our hobby demonstrates just how arcane our area of interest has become. But then again, you could probably substitute the names of luminaries in the wine and cheese worlds and get the same response.

  • That was frickin’ hilarious. My eyes are still wet. I wish he had read a little more though.

    Well said Larry!

  • I wasn’t sure how that was going to turn out, but in the end it was hilarious. He didn’t make fun of pipesmoking per se, just the obscurity of it and the absolute lack of anything lascivious to make “confessions” about.
Compared to the dancing with cats one, I think that was actually some pretty good publicity.
