Bjarne Nielsen, the owner and the founder of Bjarne Pipes, passed away in February 2008. The company was founded in 1973 and became Denmark’s largest pipe manufacturer of 100% hand made pipes. Bjarne Nielsen’s pipes are recognized as a great value. His goal was to make high quality Danish pipes at a reasonable price. Bjarne pipes are hand made of the highest quality Grecian and Calabrian plateaux briar. Get one of his excellent pipes while you still can.

Here’s a Sir Walter Raleigh Pipe Tobacco Ad from Popular Mechanics April 1959 edition.
It says:
Smells Grand! Smokes Sweet! Packs Right! Can’t Bite!
That sounds good to me. I’m ready to smoke some right now, and when I do I will be nice and relaxed, smoking slowly, enjoying the flavor and the time to relax.
You can also see how the chicks dig him, which is totally true. My pipe is definitely a chick magnet … or is it my two-seater convertible? I’m not sure, but just don’t mix the two together. The wind will not make for a good smoking experience.

I love seeing these old ads. It makes me wish it was 1959 right now, but with personal computers and the Internet.
What do you think of this ad?

There’s no doubt, that the taste of our favorite tobacco blend is not the only reason many of us light up our favorite pipe. After a tough day doing whatever it is that we do there’s nothing quite like sitting back and contemplating what’s happened while we enjoy the simple pleasure of a pipe and that blend that we like so much.
It’s a time for reflection … for planning … problem solving and just plain daydreaming about what we could be doing and where we might be going. Now if you and I do that while we’re enjoying a bowl, what must some of the famous and talented people who are or were pipe smokers reflect on or think about over their evening pipe?
